AN 8-MONTH OLD GIRL LOOSES LIFE BECOMES SECOND VICTIM OF BADAL GOVT’S REPRESSION

EGS TEACHER’S STRUGGLE:

AN 8-MONTH OLD GIRL LOOSES LIFE

BECOMES SECOND VICTIM OF BADAL GOVT’S REPRESSION

8-month old daughter of Kiranjeet Kaur – a protesting EGS teacher today became the second victim of Badal Govt’s repressive policy towards the struggling EGS teachers, who are sitting on hunger strike atop a water tank in the heart of Bathinda city, demanding regular jobs. To foil this struggle, the Disrict Administration has ordered all the tent houses in the city, not to supply any tent, blanket or quilt to the agitating teachers. So they are spending freezing cold & foggy nights under open sky, braving chilly winds & rain. Kiranjit Kaur’s infant daughter caught cold. The administration even instructed the doctors at Civil Hospital, Bathinda, not to give proper medical treatment to the suffering protestors & their wards. Consequently the infant girl died in the early morning today.

Earlier another EGS teacher Makhan Kaur had died at her home in Mansa on Sunday night after falling ill on the protest site due to severe cold. She too was not given any medical aid by the Govt.

Lok Morcha Punjab strongly condemns Punjab Govt’s policy of repression towards all struggling sections of the people, including the EGS teachers, and demands:

# acceptance of the demands of EGS teachers, and

# payment of adequate compensation for the deaths of Makhan Kaur and 8-month old daughter of Kiranjeet Kaur.
