PROTESTS IN INDIA OVER RADIO TAGGING OF INDIAN STUDENTS IN USA

Radio tagging of Indian students in USA has invited widespread condemnation from all sections of the people in India, particularly in Punjab, Andhra Pardesh and Kerala. The PSU held a protest rally in Punjabi University Patiala. Here are some of the comments on Facebook, about this rally:

Punjab Students Union: TODAY MEMBERS OF PUNJAB STUDENTS UNION PROTESTED IN FRONT OF PATIALA UNIVERSITY LIBRARY AGAINST ATTACHING RADIO COLLARS TO INDIAN STUDENTS IN USA. THEY SAID “THIS INCIDENT HAS REMEMBERED US THE TIME OF COLONIZATION WHEN INDIANS AND DOGS WERE NOT ALLOWED TO INTER IN CINEMAS BECAUSE NOW RADIO TRACKERS ARE USED ON CRIMINALS ON PAROLE IN USA. This is racist and inhuman treatment of Indian students who have no fault of their own. They are also victims of fraud of a USA university”

N.K.JEET: This incident shows the true nature of our relationship with the US imperialists. They treat us just like a "Kauli Chat". Unfortunately our rulers are keeping their eyes closed, lest they may loose a seat in the UN Security Council. In the fond hope of sitting on the UNSC our rulers are mortgaging India's natural resources as well as the self-respect to US imperialists.

DALJIT AMI: This protest has its meaning in front of the library too. When we talk about issues at public spaces we contribute to radicalize the society. Educational institutions are suppose to initiate critical discourses and build scientific temperament. Here they are not protesting against American brutality only they are also trying to expand the space of political awareness in otherwise depoliticized campus ...
